"Like an old friend or a fine wine."
Five Stars - Betty from TX

Homicide, blackmail, greed, and betrayal: just a taste of what goes on behind the well-trimmed hedges of Midsomer County.  Inspired by the novels of Caroline Graham, "the best detective writer since Agatha Christie" (Sunday Times, UK), this British series is deliciously sinister and darkly humorous.

An elderly woman's death draws Barnaby into a case that reveals the sordid side of a quaint village.

Investigating the brutal murder of a writer, Barnaby discovers that the victim had led a fictitious life.

Death of a Hollow Man
Barnaby and his family take part in an amateur theatrical production that provides an abundance of real-life drama.

Faithful unto Death

There are generally too many townspeople to keep track of as opposed to other mysteries like Miss Marple.

Each episode is about 1 hour and 45 minutes long and well crafted. The picturesque English villages form an interesting back-drop and contrasting theme to mayhem and murder. Too bad these series aren't on American prime time TV as they are head and shoulders above anything we have on American TV.
