For those who want to know what the temperature is, wherever they are. Well-designed and solidly crafted in Vermont, both are mercury-free; the red liquid is a solution of pigmented mineral spirits, accurate (just like mercury) to within +1/–1 degree. Clear viewing tubes are optical-quality, shatterproof polycarbonate; end caps are solid brass. Desktop thermometer is 2 ¾" tall. Waterproof travel thermometer is 2 ½" long; the ring attaches to your keychain, parka, or luggage.
