If you're already a fan of Downton Abbey, you won't benefit from my opinion. My wife and I had heard so much about it, we rented season one and watched the entire season on New Year's Eve. Hooked of course. We wanted to see season two before the next season started, hence the order. It's awesome. The only negative is that each season is in different format; it is a bit confusing knowing which episode you've watched and which you haven't (season one). The second season is on 3 discs, thus a bit easier to keep up.

The production has real substance and is totally removed from the general trash in which we often find ourselves trapped in this "progressive age". So refreshing to pass time with convincing reality. Currently, I am ripe for Season 4. (Will I be moved to look for Season 1. Very likely.

This is one of the most well-done series we've seen. It's elegant, it's impeccably filmed, the main characters are so human - it draws you in until you're a part of their lives. The differences between 'upstairs' and 'downstairs' individuals are shown clearly and sensitively. The respect and pride each pereson takes in his/her position 'downstairs' is portrayed so beautifully. I love this series and can't wait to see the next installment.
