This is one of those rare TV series that works on just about every level. The actors are all top-rate and interact beautifully with one another. The screenplays are interesting and based on historical events so one gets a good feel for what people in wartime Britain were experiencing. The ambiance of Hastings and its surroundings give an authentic feel to the stories. This one's definitely a keeper. It's too bad this last offering is the last one.

I rented a Folye's War DVD from our library and noticed they were numbered. I searched online and found 19 episodes (I think) and we liked them so much that I searched for all to watch in order as it goes from the beginning of WWII to the end days in a small town in UK. We loved the characters and were sad to see the end. Then they came out with 3 more following the town after the war and I had to order than. We hope they left a place at the end to follow Foyle some more. We felt like they were our family and neighbors. Great Series!

The Foyle's War series left off at the end of World War II. Since then, there have been indications that another series might be forthcoming that takes Foyle to the United States in search off at least one saboteur who got away. Haven't heard or read anything lately one way or the other. This particular series was not a gift, but a family friend has shared other Foyle DVDs with my wife and I over the years.
