This is a surprisingly good series; too bad there's not another set. The acting is good, the period costuming is great, and the subject of ever-evolving legal processes during that time period is fascinating.

Since this was our first experience with Edwardian mysteries, we can only say that we prefer the Victorian mysteries. We cannot fairly compare Garrow's Law to others in its specific genre. And, having watched only one episode, we have not become educated even in this one series. we do intend to watch more eventually. Having just joined Acorn, we ordered the series, forgetting we had to pay the shipping for a return. Thus, not having a complete refund changes the calculation whether to return the DVD's. Having watched only one episode, we have not yet decided whether to return it since the price was reasonably good.

We really enjoyed this set of DVD's, especially my husband. He loves anything to do with the law, particularly courtroom/trial law. It was very educational to see what the English law system was like back in those days. It was truly a mans world & the trials looked like a three ring circus being held. How anyone received a fair trial back then was really in question. We were sorry to see the last episode end. My husband said it was all "excellent". I know we will watch this series many more times.

I enjoy the video story of the development and application of common law in England as it unfolded in the 18th century. I only hope that the performances and the character development could be considered as based in fact and is not a literary license to a totally fiction level. In that what is evolving in the USA and practiced in countries of the "English Speaking Peoples" is based on English Common Law it helps in understanding the thought processes that got us to this point and amazes me that it's as good an attempt at justice as it is today.

I purchased the complete set of this series -- it's well worth the investment. This is one of the best productions available. If you are interested in historical accounts from the Georgian period, superb cast and acting, outstanding set design and costume, and accurate legal portrayals procured from Old Bailey records, plus a strong dose of scandal, you will love this series. Buchan, Armstrong, McArdle, Graves and Marshal are all perfectly cast in this exciting series. BBC Platinum -- a drama that will raise your IQ.
