What a relief. I was afraid the new Barnaby would not fit in, but he did and the Midsomer is going along as great as always. I like the addition of a dog. My one dislike is why did we have to see Ben in the nude in the last story? I marked it off as unnecessary, but something the British seem to spring on you in their mysteries at unexpected moments. That scene could have been cut and no one would have missed it. Other than that, the new Barnaby, dog, and wife fit in quite nicely.

Big transition in the series with Neil Dudgeon replacing John Nettles as another DCI Barnaby. Already familiar with Dudgeon, I liked him in the role although he sets a different tone. His dog, Sykes, was a good idea. His wife, I'm indifferent to. The dog doesn't seem to like her.

They are all great, although we do miss Tom Barnaby!

Midsommer Murders make you feel you are there in the Village with the characters. Beautiful sceney, very interesting characters. This series is one of my most favorite. It gives you a sampling of what life in a small english village must be like. There is always a touch of humor and just when I think I know "who did the deed" I'm proved wrong which is wonderful. I have never been disappointed with any of the Midsommer Sets and I have many of them. They are worth viewing over and over. Can't wait until number 18 is available.

The solutions in each case keep the viewer guessing, often right up until the last scenes. My wife and I enjoy trying to beat the detectives to the answers, and fail more often than not. The characters are well drawn, and familiar from season to season, and the inclusion of "name" actors adds verve to the series. John Nettles and Jane Wymark seem so comfortable in their roles as to be almost like a married couple. The writing and production are consistently top notch, and I cannot now recall any episode that stands out as repitious, or a copy of anything seen previously. We have enjoyed this series from its inception and are glad to know it will continue after "Barnaby" turns over his responsibilities to Neil Dudgeon at the end of 2011.

We purchased Midsomer Murders: Barnaby's Casebook because we never saw it on T.V. We are thoroughly enjoying them.

Some people don't have access to those channels and this is their best chance to watch and appreciate the show.

I am hoping that, eventually, Acorn will re-release the earlier DVDs with SDH. Many people struggle with their hearing today.
