Rebus: Set 3

Haunted by his own failings and the human tragedies he faces every day, Detective Inspector Rebus pursues truth beneath the leaden skies of modern-day Edinburgh. Ken Stott brings Edgar® winner Ian Rankin’s best-selling novels to life in a role he was born to play. Seen on BBC America; CC. 4 mysteries, approx. 276 min. on 4 DVDs. CC.
Disc 1
Resurrection Men
During the investigation of an art dealer’s murder, a temper tantrum lands Rebus in remedial training—the last chance at redemption for mavericks and marginal performers. There he falls in with two cops on the take. Discovering the extent of their corruption, Rebus tests the trust of all his colleagues on the force, including his partner, DS Siobhan Clarke.

Disc 2
The First Stone
Immediately before his induction as the new moderator of the Church of Scotland, Rev. Derek Brady is found naked in a popular lovers’ lane alongside a married woman. Both have had their throats slashed. Rebus and Clarke’s investigation leads them to longstanding sins that someone in the ecclesiastical hierarchy would prefer not to confess.

Disc 3
The Naming of the Dead
As Edinburgh prepares to host the world trade summit, crowds of protesters roil in the streets. An unidentified body turns up on the grounds of the inn where the heads of state will stay. Later, a junior minister jumps—or falls—to his death. In the investigation, Rebus butts heads with Special Branch operatives, who seem bent on obstruction rather than solutions.

Disc 4
Knots and Crosses
After the defense calls Rebus’s interrogation methods into question at trial, the prosecution drops its case against Daniel Carr, the accused murderer in a drug-related killing. Soon after, Carr himself winds up murdered. All the while, Rebus has received anonymous notes containing carefully tied crosses or knotted cords and pleading for help. What connection—if any—do they have to the case?
