I ran across this Canadian gem online recently and was amazed at what a well constructed, written and acted series it is. The fictitious Burbage Festival (like the real life Stratford festival in Canada) is a traditional home for the classics, especially Shakespeare. So it's set in the world of the theater, with all the quirky people who inhabit such endeavors. The cast is a collection of some of the finest talents in Canada, and they're all at the top of their game. The late William Hutt is simply amazing in the third series, based around a production of King Lear. I've been talking this series up to friends since I discovered it. This set demonstrates why having Acorn is so valuable. Even though I watched the entire series online I also bought the DVDs because online rights can expire and I knew I'd want to see it many more times. This is a series made by grownups for grownups. It's hilariously funny, effectively dramatic, beautifully poignant, sophisticated and goofy. Props to Canada

Since what I purchased is for a gift that will not be opened for a month or so I cannot say about this particular dvd set. We had Netflixed it and loved it... Great true view of theatre life behind the scenes.
