Faulty Recorder
My husband and i spent a good hour trying to record the story. For whatever reason, each time we tried to record page 3, the recorder did not recognize our reading of this page. This caused us to need to delete the entire book several times and rerecord. We were never able to have the entire book recorded. It is a cute book-just faulty recorder.
This product needs explicit directions
The book's concept is wonderful if only it wasn't so difficult to personalize.

easy and a snap to do!
I am a distant Grandparent not able to see and visit my Granddaughters on a frequent basis. This unique book is a way for me to give a little of myself to them and for them to hear and connect with me. I found the book/recorder easy to use and very forgiving when needing to re-record pages. Just wish it were longer.
Impossible to record
I bought 4 books and found all of them to be impossible to record (thought maybe one was defective, but none of them worked). Even had a young, techno-savvy couple try to make them work to no avail. They are very attractive books, but failed miserably for what I wanted---a personal Christmas connection with my out of town grandchildren.
sensor problems/playback flaws
Fabulous book but not sure it works. The one I received has sensor problems PLUS one MUST hold the book very still in only one position in bright light for the playback to properly work, particularly at end with lights and song, etc. The one I received keeps playing the first page (or parts of it) over and over, like stuck recording needle, no matter which page I turn to. Acorn reps are very helpful and express mailing another so I may hopefully have a working one for child at Christmas. Good Luck with yours. Perhaps this is one is just a lemon.

This book will give grandchildren the opportunity to hear Nana's voice read to them each year at Christmas...even after Nana has passed.
NOT WORTH IT
[$] for a book that only has a few pages is just not worth it. That you can record a reading of it still doesn't make it worth it. I plan on returning it.
