Vera set 2
We enjoyed the first set, but this is even better Vera makes you like her even when you think you won't and her sidekick is one of the better ones in a series.
Loved both Vera Series 1 and 2. Great actress. Hope there is a Series 3. Thanks for great selection of British Mysteries.
Excellent characters and good story lines
Love that Vera!
Love the detective who speaks what she is thinking! Always a treat to watch!
Vera set 2
Intriguing plots and excellent acting.
Vera Part 2
Vera 1 was great so I got both I and II for my parents (British expats) for Christmas; they love them.
Outstanding... I really enjoy British dectective stories and to see them on the TV screen is exciting...
I have received both seasons and am looking forward to future seasons. I have watched both twice in order to "hear" what each person is saying. The accents are interesting; however, take a bit of concentration to absorb properly.
great detective series!
Inspector Vera Stanhope is a character who relies on her knowledge of human nature and consistent detective work to solve crimes.
I am British and, living in the US, I miss first class productions like this --I was not disappointed. I buy every British produced DVD and I thoroughly enjoy every one.
Vera Set 2
I love British mysteries, the characters are so interesting abd the story is excellent
vera set two
it was a good mystry
I like the characters but the story lines were not as interesting or as intense as Set 1. I love a good mystery and I will keep buying Vera.I have seen all of Midsummer Murder and Foyle's War.
I bought Vera 2 primarily because of Brenda Blethyn's truly remarkable performance. I am now watching Vera 1 again because Vera Stanhope is such a fascinating "multi-layered" and delightful character. Stunning acting! Also, I enjoy David Leon as Sergeant Joe Ashworth, who is so caring and long-suffering. The stories themselves are great and I appreciate discovering the beauty of Northumberland. Set 2, by the way, is even more wonderful than Set 2, and I just hope Set 3 is on its way.
Another splendid series from Acorn Media. A cranky
Midsomer's with wonderful acting led by Brenda Blethyn and her understated DS David Leon. Writing and settings remarkably atmospheric and thoughtful. A+
Really like the series...the actors, the location, etc. i like to watch the various mystery series that are filmed on location throughout the UK.
Blethyn and Leon make a perfect pair for solving crime. Plots are intricate yet easy to follow. The brooding scenery adds to the sense of evil waiting to happen and great cops ready to stop it.
Vera, Set 2
Sometimes difficult to follow the accents! Brenda Blethyn is a FINE ACTRESS,.....one of my favourites.
Brenda Blethyn represents the best in British theater. She is versatile and as with the best, she is willing to age and look rather plain if the part requires it.
The Best of A Genre
Even better than Vera-1. Brenda Blethyn's portrayal of DCI Stanhope rivals any in this genre (Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect, e.g.) - She's a different kettle of fish and as believable as any character I've seen. The twists and turns of the plots are terrific and always keep you guessing. The resolutions of the cases are satisfying but not facile. The combination of excellent story lines and outstanding character development make Vera a real treat. The only complaint? The wait until the next one comes out!
vera set 2
love the actress and all her work. Mysteries are my favorite
Vera, just a little mellower
I really liked the Vera stories in Series One. However Vera is just a little too critical. In the second season she is still Vera but she has mellowed and is trying to interact with people. Having said that I am eager for a Season 3, which I would not have been if she hadn't become a bit more personable.
Enjoyed the Vera show thoroughly
Vera - 2
I loved the development of the personal relationships and the way the cases affected the personal lives of both detectives.
Vera and cast
I love the quirky lady "Vera" and love the Handsome
Italian stud Joe. My wife and I both do!!!! For me, he
is "what I would love to look like" and for my wife he is what she want to be in bed with!(Can you believe she would say that!! Now for the writers...please,please write lines for character "Vera" to say that are no mean, biased and
debasing to KENNY. Yes, it makes "Joe" look like he
is really up Vera's bum. WHY?????always the new girl of
color is of the darker shades. CAnm't there be an anglo,Frecn, spanish of Italian or eve Asian girl .
The writers have shown they are not racially biased so
stop with the one "race" and spread your liberal wings
to other ethnic groups and that does not just mean
pretty boy "Joe". Vera is super and her absolute lack
of sentimentality is amazing. HOW HOW HOW did she ever
get the jog(in this make believe world)?
Vera, set 2
I love Vera and was delighted there was a set 2. She is a rough and tumble kind of woman who can be very abrasive but lovable underneath--pet being her favorite endearment. Carol Agner
Another well written group of stories from this series.
like very much, BB is a fine actress and plays the part extremely well. clearly a role in today's world
